As human beings, we tend to be cynical people. Whenever an organization or individual claims to be a proponent of a particular social or religious agenda, we often question whether the individual or organization is authentic. Perhaps we have reason to be cynical based on the history of humanity. Often, individuals will claim to be proponents of an agenda with a desire to break systems of oppression while simultaneously propagating the structures they desire to eradicate. So perhaps humans give us reason to be cynical. We hear the words, “We’re here to help,” and our experience tells us they often aren’t.
